Congressman Paul Tonko remarked on the passage of the Affordable Health Care for America Act:
He said The House of Representatives took a giant step towards fixing the broken health care system by passing legislation that will provide coverage for millions of uninsured Americans, strengthen Medicare for our seniors, lower costs for businesses and individuals, and provide protections for those who already have health care coverage. In the 21st Congressional District alone, this bill will cover 22,000 of the uninsured and close the Medicare Part “D” donut hole that currently has 7,300 of our seniors paying out of pocket for prescription drug costs.

MEETING SET FOR HYDRANT REPLACEMENT
Weeks away from the originally set date of completion for the fire hydrant replacement project, aldermen have called a special meeting of the Common Council on Thursday to take action on a tabled resolution to award a bid for replacement.
A resolution to award a bid for the replacement of 30 of the city's malfunctioning hydrants was tabled last week after concerns that it contradicts a pre-existing memorandum of agreement with the Department of Public Works' union to replace at least 12 of those hydrants.

MAN FACES CHARGES AFTER FOOT CHASE
An Albany man faces charges after allegedly leading officers on a foot chase.
When Amsterdam Police Officers were dispatched to Bridge Street for a property removal on Saturday afternoon, they said Vincent P. Estrada, 29, of 520 Hamilton St., Apt. 5, Albany, exited the apartment and began yelling and swearing in the street.
Although officers instructed Estrada to stop creating a disturbance, he continued to yell and swear on Center Street, they said. After Estrada was informed that he was under arrest for disorderly conduct, he fled from officers, according to a police report.
After a brief foot chase, Estrada was apprehended. He was charged with disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.
Estrada was arraigned by City Court Judge Howard Aison and remanded to Montgomery County Jail on $750 bail.
